Jimmy Choo a started out as a couture shoe maker located in the East End of London and quickly became known for fine craftsmenship and quality in his womens shoe creations. His policy was to design and produce not only stylish but also wearable shoes for women.
Jimmy departed his native home in Malaysia and relocated to London England, where he spent three years studying fashion at a local college. At the 1991 Academy awards Cate Blanchetts footwear provided by Jimmy Choo featured diamond ankle straps and cost over one hundred thousand dollars. It didn't take long for his womens shoes to be sought after by the rich and famous. One his most famous clients was client was the late Princess Diana. In 1990 the princess ordered six pairs of womens shoes from Choo. Other famous clients of the Jimmy Choo brand include Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Katie Holmes. They Choo name has also been mentioned as a favorite brand on the television series The Sopranos. Choo favors crystalline colors, aqua, fuchsia, and bright orange and applies them to luxury fabrics like silk satin and shantung. Python and fish skin are some preferred materials used to make his shoes. He also favors the use of mink and feathers in some of his styles. Jimmy Choo has used a wide variety of different stones to embellish his shoes, from Swarovski crystals to natural crystals. His stiletto heels have been described as both dainty and deadly.
Today Jimmy is no longer directly involved in the womens shoe brand that he made so famous. Vogue editor Tamara Mellon worked out a business arrangement that allow his name to be placed on shoes manufactured in Italy creating the first ready to wear shoe stores sporting the Jimmy Choo name.
The average retail price tag on Jimmy Choo merchandise ranges from four to twelve hundred dollars.
These shoes can be purchased in high end retail stores worldwide, plus four stand alone Jimmy Choo stores in London, New York, Beverly Hills and Las Vegas. Company executives work hard at keeping the sophisticated image of the shoes by using a highly selective methods of displaying the merchandise. There is no doubt that it his name and reputation that have brought such great success to each new store. Considered the ultimate luxury in retail womens shoes is what Jimmy Choo shoes are all about.
